A Sign of the Times: A Letter to the Wall Street Journal

By Jim Beers

Last week you ”covered” the scandalous pandering by the National Park Service to obtain Appropriations  to “study” buffalo/cattle hybrids devouring a Park’s vegetation that the bureaucrats “can’t” control “because hunting isn’t allowed” in National Parks.

In your 24 August edition you follow this up with a paean celebrating the “100th Birthday” of the National Parks when actually, despite the “Distinguished Fellow” author’s propaganda, Yellowstone’s website tells us it has been a “Renowned park since 1872”. 100 or 144 years, but why spoil an appeal for draconian Park fees on top of gigantic Appropriations and constant additions to the system (see all your past articles celebrating Executive Orders and Appropriations adding to this unmanageable string of environmental indoctrination centers)?

All those poor people in the cities and the rural dispossessed and harmed (the wolves introduced with money stolen from state wildlife coffers by federal bureaucrats and released into Yellowstone to infest the Upper Rockies and now the NW Pacific states were kicked loose in Yellowstone to avoid any state or local objections to the imperial Presidents and their bureaucrat’s decrees) due to Parks and the loss of rural American private property and local government don’t matter anyway except when the politicians need their votes.

You somehow missed the irony in the same edition of the article “Maine Land Is Named As Monument” wherein “just ahead of the 100th anniversary” our Imperial President has issued an “Order” accepting 88,000 acres of private property in Maine over the strong objections of state government. The land is “donated” by a rich “foundation” fronting for the likes of wealthy techie/movie star “donors” feeding the Democrat Presidential nominee in California as I write. Then you double down on why we should all worship Imperial President’s by closing with, “Mr. Obama has protected more than 265 million acres of public lands and waters, according to the White House, which it says is more than any other president.” “Protecting” “public lands”? Taking private lands is more like it.

Simultaneously, your Opinion page features pieces by Fred Barnes and Karl Rove two leading never-Trump, Trump bashers whining about their threatened livelihoods.

Have you considered applying for a grant from a National Parks lobby organization or from the election funds of one of those losing Republican Presidential candidates that insisted that Trump swear to back one of them when they won, but were and are nowhere to be found when he won? Maybe a DNC grant

You are becoming not just a “sign of the times”: you are morphing into a facsimile of your rival, the Times.

If you found this worthwhile, please share it with others. Thanks.
