Commentary by Jim Beers: Biolitical

By Jim Beers

Bi-o-lit-i-cal - 1. pertaining to or dealing with the use of biology in the affairs of government, especially the use of biology to disguise hidden government agendas concerning the expansion of central government powers to establish tyrannical government authority and abolish Constitutionally-specified government authority in an established Republic.

2. bureaucrats and professors purporting to be scientists or scientifically literate that enable legislators and radical environmental/animal rights groups to enrich themselves by justifying government growth and the elimination of Constitutional rights and freedoms.

3. politicians that use biological smokescreens and biological platitudes to justify un-Constitutional and harmful laws that harm minority groups to please (and fleece) powerful ideologues.

4. laws that destroy Constitutional Rights, American traditions and a diverse collection of cultural practices and ways of life as a result of biological claims that denigrate human life and American society as being equal and even inferior to animal “rights” and Constitutional provisions.

5. national and international interest and lobby groups that manipulate billions of dollars and political leaders to place them in charge of the bureaucracies and “scientists” that benefit from the billions and influence dispensed by the Congress and distributed by the President to ostensibly resolve biological fantasies and mythical straw boogey men but in reality merely grows central government and eliminates any semblance of state or local government.

The subjects I write and speak about (endangered species, Wilderness, massive wildfires, federal abuse, wolves, property rights, wildlife irresponsibility, bureaucrat irresponsibility, un-Constitutional laws, perverse “science”, loss of personal integrity, decaying social mores into lying and threats, loss of respect or even understanding about the nature and meaning of human life, use of laws like animal welfare to take property and destroy human lives, the decay and disappearance of Rural America, the continuing purchase and easement of private property by federal bureaucracies etc. etc.) are one and all - biolitical.

This fact, like saying “Islamic Terrorist” and “Islamic Terror”, is, I believe, important if we are to do something (actually anything) about any of these matter, much less all of them. Now please don’t get all excited that I am going to try and tell you who to vote for, or who to oppose; there is plenty of blame to go around and we are awash in petulant leadership and short on god and determined men.

I could write reams here but I will keep it short to not overshadow what I am trying to say. Take endangered species and wolves (and to quote Henny Youngman, “Please”!)

Wolves were purposely extirpated from 98% of the settled landscapes of the Lower 48 States almost a century ago. Today wolves are ubiquitous on 3 continents where their danger and harms make it very common for expensive and continuous controls and human hopes among the rural poor especially for somehow exterminating them one day. The past 40 years have seen the US federal government, every bit as forcefully as an occupying army, FORCE wolves into 1/3 to 1/2 of the Lower 48 states (with possible eventual spread to all but one or two Lower 48 States) over the strenuous objections of Local communities, local businesses, hunters, campers, ranchers, and rural residents forced to coexist with wolves. Federal protection of wolves on par with witness protection and complete with draconian penalties (selectively enforced) and enforcement officers modeled after SS Troopers has caused deaths, arrests, fines, and loss of economies and the “domestic Tranquility” once promised by the US Constitution.

Despite Herculean efforts by those being harmed and those that understand the decay and dangers this horrible precedent does for federal law and federal governance:

Ranchers lose cattle and sheep routinely and their livelihoods (like European shepherds are experiencing as I write) are dwindling and their property is no longer sought other than by government realtors looking for rock-bottom prices.

Hunters are losing elk and moose herds.

Hunter safety, especially for bow hunters and novices is becoming more hazardous.

Dog owners of all manner of dogs are losing hundreds to thousands of dogs to wolves yearly as the numbers grow.

State wildlife agencies spend dwindling wildlife management dollars from hunting licenses to baby sit and coddle wolves that then, paradoxically, continue to expand and spread wildlife destruction and other harms to rural America.

State wildlife agencies are no bar to; indeed they enable by failing to protect state residents and state interests; federal wolf concupiscence by covering up and distorting facts about attacks, loss of wildlife, dog losses, reasons for hunting season closures.

Native Americans killing a wolf are ignored and white rural Americans accused of killing a wolf are pursued and vilified like The James and Younger Brothers after their botched attempt at holding up the Northfield Bank in Minnesota.

Media cover-ups and distortions about wolf incidents from a lady jogger killed on the Alaska Peninsula and a Canadian student in Saskatchewan to two women killed in Idaho and a lady killed in Wisconsin are disgraces on par with federal reporting of Islamic Terrorism, Benghazi and Orlando 911 phone messages.

Genuine concerns about wolves cross-breeding with coyotes and dogs are dismissed like challenges to climate change justifications used for economic destruction.

Known dangers from wolves as vectors of over thirty diseases and infections transmitted by everything from all but invisible tapeworm eggs on boots to saliva and feces licked by dogs that bring infections into homes and deadly and destructive diseases affecting domestic and wild mammals are dismissed and sneered at by radicals in federal and state bureaucracies posing as “experts” and “scientists”.

I could go on and on with this list but let’s call it enough here and ask the question, “Why is nothing being done?”

Because the federal politicians and their current descendants that “gave” (illegally by any fair reading of the Constitution) all this “power” (to LIST species and grow central power) to bureaucracies still harvest votes and “donations” as they whine about “returning wolf management to the state” or “introducing their bill to ‘force’ federal bureaucracies to be lenient”. All the while destruction and wolf numbers/densities increase.

Because State wildlife agencies, like the urban poor have become feckless wards of a federal government whose, policies, welfare dollar flow and grants have become an opiate for the suffering they would otherwise have to resolve themselves. The federal government plays them like a fish in order to keep them acquiescent in a situation not of their own making.

Bureaucrats are bureaucrats. Play as you are told or out you go. In the current environment of thieving top managers, lying public relations, large bonuses for the biggest sycophants and a workforce formed by radicals over 30 years now; reform or truth is about as likely to emerge as an Israeli Government Advisory Commission visit to Mogadishu.

“Scientists” and their “science” have now been propagandists for anything the federal government will give money and influence to produce for so long that they no longer value truth or actually seek it. They have become little more than alchemists, charlatans and Druidic priests dancing around an oak tree with mistletoe in it on a wintry day.

The media and “teachers” have been on the side of “more” this and that while filling the general public’s insatiable appetite for parks and “saving” this and that; that they have become like the “establishment” politicians (of both Parties) in Washington during this election season. They not only “have a stake” in the status quo; they know in their gut that if things are changed, their very way of life and their income will dry up like a Phoenix lawn in June.

The hunters (big game, waterfowl, upland, etc.) are given ideological opiates by “their” organizations that are in reality only former and wannabee bureaucrats posing as “concerned” “experts”. Ranchers are kept apart by Washington lobby groups (like state wildlife Directors answer more to their Washington lobby group than to state government or state residents). Fishermen are no different and even the big store Outdoor Stores are resigned to follow Eddie Bauer into the chic “outdoor” clothes market when things (hunting, fishing, trapping, etc.) go South.

Local governments are losing revenue and any say in governance steadily as Counties and towns are reduced to local trinket and craft stands under umbrellas along local roads no longer used by the travelers on the Interstates.

The environmental/animal rights organizations like “Defenders” of Wildlife, HSUS, PETA, Animal Welfare Society, TNC, Wildlife Federation, etc. and their subsidiaries like Center for Biological Diversity, Natural Resources Defense Council, Greenpeace, etc. are all rich and growing. They make their money from donations they stoke one after another as “emergencies”. They work hand-in-glove with federal bureaucrats to lodge and control one lawsuit after another in favorable courts to grow their power and to justify more and more Draconian regulations to oppress Americans and destroy America as we know it. They keep all the others and “the system” in line. This goes equally for the Democrat and Republican “establishments” for more than two decades as I write.

I could go on here but the point is made. I could write as much about “Wilderness” and the abandonment of forest management on federal property and its connection to massive fires and private property destruction. I could write about the closure of western grazing lands and the Wild Horse and Burro debacle that is never mentioned except for some protesting Nevada and Oregon ranchers killed and charged under Terrorism Laws that Islamic Terrorists somehow avoid by having what they do called “workplace violence”! I could ask how those owls are doing that caused the destruction of a large swath of SW Oregon? How sensible has been the destruction of OR/CA agriculture and irrigation for little known and unused fish? What about the precedent of declaring private property “Critical Habitat” for some bird with demands on the landowner for which they are never paid?

I say again – all of this is biolitical. Explain ‘til you’re blue in the face about the wolves or wilderness or rural impacts or disease or costs and it makes no difference. Ask a federal appointee (the ones telling the bureaucrats what to do and how to do it) and he or she will look at you like you just crawled out from under a log as they grin and walk away. Write “your” federal legislator ‘til your fingers get carpel tunnel syndrome and it make no difference. Write or call “your” state legislator and he will just shrug and say he has no power over the feds. Call your state wildlife Director and you can expect him or her to lie and mislead you in ways you have neither recourse about nor even any sensible question to ask (he has “focused-grouped” the answers). Ditto the “scientist, even at “your” state University, you can expect him to answer like some railroad engineer in 1940’s Germany about why he does what he does. Talk to the radical organization; heck they won’t even talk to you unless you are contributing. Talk to the great unwashed “general public” in all those cities and suburbs and they will look at you like you are speaking Russian or Chinese, they won’t understand and they are too disinterested and busy to listen.

Wolves and these other matters mentioned above have been commandeered by tyrants. Each of these matters should be decided mainly by the local desires of those forced to accommodate. States should protect this right. The federal government does not have the power (Constitutionally) to force America to worship[p the myths of climate change as rationales for economic ruination any more that they should own and buy so much private property; declare “Wilderness”; “List” species, close; public lands to use; nor to abandon renewable natural resource management for alchemy formulas like “native ecosystems” or hatred of wildlife users and controllers. In the wolf example, the presence, absence, distribution, numbers, and densities of wolves should primarily be the decision of those that wolves will affect: that is to say the Local (most accountable) government as protected by state government.

Unless and until these federal laws (Endangered Species Act, Wilderness Act, Animal Welfare Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, etc.) are REPEALED; things will get worse and worse until there is a general collapse. Those that want wolves or bats or smelt or suckers or sea otters or “the solitude of nature..”, etc. should appeal to those they would importune for it be they residents, fishermen, hunters, ranchers, or whoever. They should PAY for it and any damage if those to be harmed acquiesce. Period, end of statement!

Unless and until those laws are, like Prohibition, placed on the shelf of do-gooder programs gone horribly awry; NOTHING ELSE WILL MATTER.

Like I say, it is all Biolitical!
