Researchers from 13 institutions around the world have discovered that people with a mutation of the CHD8 gene have a 'very strong' likelihood of having autism. The new study found the gene mutation was marked by common characteristics, including gastrointestinal disorders, a larger head and wide set eyes. It is the first time researchers have linked a definitive cause of autism to a genetic mutation, the team claim.
Associate professor at the University of
Washington, and lead author of the new research, Raphael Bernier, said: 'We
finally got a clear cut case of an autism specific gene.’ In the study, published in Cell magazine,
6,176 children with autism spectrum disorder were anaylsed. Researchers found 15 had a
CHD8 mutation and all of these children had similar characteristics in

My Take - Another greenie scare bites the
dust. It's been clear for years that genetics is where the problem lies, but
knowing it and proving it are two different things. However, when things are
true - the proving eventually comes. Oh
the greenies will still claim it's pesticides, phthalates, chlorine,
fluoride...and welllllll....take your pick - anything will do when you only have emotional
speculation, lies and logical fallacies on your side. But make no mistake about this - they almost
have a monopoly on being wrong because facts and consistency of thought is
totally alien to these misanthropes. What we need to understand is green is big
business, and without an unending number of scares to create funding they would
face the greatest catastrophe of all, they'd have to go out and get a real job! Once we understand that we can begin to understand
that in the fever swamps of the environmental movement neither the environment nor human
well being is of real importance to them.
