Targeted Christian scores major legal victory

Officials at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington have been ordered to pay a teacher $50,000 in back pay and promote him to a full professorship, backdated to 2007, for discriminating against him over his Christian perspectives.

The ruling from Senior U.S. District Judge Malcolm Howard comes in the case of Christian professor Mike Adams, who had faced retaliation, according to the jury, for his conservative views expressed in opinion columns, books and speeches.

“This is a great day not only for Dr. Adams but for all who value academic freedom,” said Senior Counsel Kevin Theriot of the Alliance Defending Freedom, which, along with the American Center for Law and Justice, represented Adams.

“The court’s order reminds universities that they cannot retaliate against those who simply express opinions that some officials do not like,” Theriot said.

WND reported last month the jury’s verdict in favor of Adams. The jury concluded the school unfairly denied a promotion to a professor who was celebrated when he was hired as an atheist but then faced retaliation when he became a Christian……To Read More…..

My Take –Normally I don’t particularly care what criteria a leadership group chooses as the basis for their decisions regarding promotions. Do they want to only promote atheists, or Jews, or Christians, or Muslims, communists or capitalists…….well that all ok with me? If it’s a private university! In fact, I wish there were more truly private universities - self funding private universities, who outline who they are, what they believe, what they promote and then live or die by those standards.

The fact of the matter is there are too many universities, they’re all too expensive, and there are far too many students who will enter college with empty brains and come out believing things so stupid only an intellectual could believe them. Worse yet, there will be about 25% of the kids who enter these institutions but never graduate….but they will have student loan debt coming out of the wahzoo.

But this university is a public university. If they’re a public university that means they’re on the public doll one way or another, and might not survive a day without the disgusting convergence of state politicos and state academics working for their own advantages.  However the public decides what should be done, which means they don’t get to make the rules, and the rules that are decided upon must be applied equitably.

The public - unfortunately - is clueless as to what’s really going on at these propaganda filled echo chambers of self congratulations. But that’s changing. However, this can only truly be fixed be by ending all these student loans, student scholarships, and taxpayer support for ALL universities.

I know….I know….the argument is we will fall behind the rest of the world academically.  No we won’t, we're already behind and dropping fast. We will just end the mess that exists now, and once it all hits rock bottom it will right itself and start teaching the truth instead of leftist indoctrination.

Who knows, they may even start with the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, the Federalist Papers and the Constitution, and in that order. Wow! Just think how much money these schools would save them because that would exclude the vast majority of these professional ivory tower university types right off the bat. After all, in order to teach something you should at least know something about it.
